The Proud Tarsier

Tarsi had enormous eyes and could see well at night. He became so proud that he laughed at animals who could not. “The forest belongs to those who see best,” he said. During the day, however, the bright sun made Tarsi uncomfortable. A butterfly guided him toward a shaded trail, and a squirrel warned him about a loose branch above. Tarsi realized that his special ability was useful, but it did not make every other ability less important. That evening he apologized. “My eyes are a gift, not a crown.” The animals agreed that the forest was safer because each creature noticed something different.
