The Carabao and the Maya

Kaloy the carabao was proud of how much he could carry. Each morning he hauled baskets across the farm while Maya, a tiny bird, hopped from fence to fence. “You are too small to do real work,” Kaloy teased. One afternoon, Maya noticed dark clouds gathering beyond the hills and heard the distant rush of water. She warned Kaloy that the river was rising. Kaloy almost ignored her, but Maya flew ahead and showed him a safer path home. Minutes later, the old crossing disappeared beneath the flood. Kaloy thanked Maya. The next morning, instead of boasting, he asked, “What can you see from up there that I cannot?” Maya answered, “And what can you carry that I cannot?” They realized that friendship grows when different strengths work together.
Moral Lesson
Different strengths become more powerful when people cooperate and respect one another.
